That's right!!! Last week, two weeks after his first tooth broke through, Charlie is now the proud owner of two bottom teeth! I have yet to get a good picture of the pair, so I thought I'd put a few different pictures up instead!

Filling in the Day
When Charlie was little, all he did was sleep, eat, and poop. Literally, for the first month, that's about all he did! He would sleep swaddled all nice and tight, then he would cry for food. I would feed him, change his diaper, and he'd go back to sleep. He was such a good baby, unless he was hungry - then he was impatient!
Now - his naps usually take up most of the day, but his awake time is steadily increasing. So - what do we do? We play, we go swimming, we take baths, and we read books courtesy of Grandma S! We just brought his exersaucer in from my parent's house, so Charlie is loving that! And his bath. Ummmm - it is getting a little small, but it is so fun to watch him splash and splash some more. Check out his rolls!

Proof is in the Pictures
Someone, who shall remain nameless, said I need more pictures. So, here you go!!! Charlie's first tooth :) I'll try and get a better picture - look closely!
Now to Charlie's sleeping arrangement! He sleeps in a play pen and has just realized that he can push himself up and look out the mesh. It is the CUTEST thing! Here are a few pics of him looking out today.
And his playmat. Charlie usually loves being under his toys. His mat even has this contraption that lights up and plays music. Here he is pushing himself up. Now all he needs to do is start rolling over (he's only done it twice!).
I can't wait to move into our house. Natural light abounds - which always helps with pictures. We'll also be able to unpack our mac that we bought last summer and has been sitting in its box since we moved :( No room in the INN for it!!!

Bad Combo
Today was Charlies second round of vaccinations. I haven't been looking forward to them, as the last time he was poked, he got a "bump" on the top of his forehead. What it is, we aren't quite sure.....we're headed to a pediatric surgeon in early March for a diagnosis. Anyway - lets just say I was praying the same thing didn't happen again today.
Doug comes with me so I got to watch Charlies reaction - he was oblivious, then he realized he was in pain, and then he realized he could cry about it. He almost stopped crying, and then he got the second shot, and then the third. He doesn't cry hard, he just wasn't happy. We felt bad for our little boy.
On top of his needles, he is still teething and I'm pretty sure his second bottom tooth will fully poke through very soon. So - teething and needles - a very bad combination for Valentine's Day. I gave him some baby tylenol and got him settled to sleep fairly easily once we got back to our room, but his pain sure hits his momma hard.
No celebrating Valentine's Day for Doug and I. We will be nursing our little Charlie back to good health and catching up on book work!
Oh - and so far so good. There isn't any sign of a second bump on Charlie :)

Winter
Most people know that I am not a fan of the cold and I tend to stray away from anything that involves me going outside in the winter. Over the past 6 years, I always went outside at least once a day - if only to go from the car to the office!
This year is so different.
1. I have a little baby
2. I live in a hotel
3. I currently can't really cook, so no need for grocery shopping
4. I sometimes have to help with the hotel, so I often keep busy while Charlie is sleeping (AKA - laundry room)
5. I don't really have anywhere to go in town
I should be embarrassed to say this, but I'm not - one week in January, I didn't go outside for a whole week! AND - it didn't bother me in the least :) It was the week the TransCanada closed for two days, so we were full to capacity and I was helping Doug out. Then we were recovering from the weekend, which meant I was still helping. By the end of the 7 days, I wasn't doing much, but it was at least -20, so I really didn't want to go outside.
Plus, where was I supposed to go?? That's what I always ask Doug!
Right before my week of hibernating, Doug and I walked over to Walmart with Charlie and came home with something for him. I finally put it to good use today - Charlie and I ventured out for a stroll to the grocery store. Truth be told, it was mostly so I could put the purchase from one month ago to good use!
Isn't he cute?! It's a little big, but he'll grow into it over the next few months. And the snowsuit is the first Winnie the Pooh thing I have bought. It was on sale for $15, so I figured we would go gender neutral just in case a future brother or sister can make use of it in the winter.

Firsts (alternatively, Hands)
During my first year of working for an MP, I found that I was constantly learning new things. Firsts - they were almost a daily occurrence. Even once a year had passed, I still found myself coming across new issues or tasks that I had never done.
I'm quickly realizing that babies are no exception - in fact, their life is all about firsts. First smile, first roll-over, first tooth, first time sitting up...... I could go on and on. When Charlie first came home from the hospital, my dad would often say - little boy, you have so much to learn. Isn't that the truth!
Charlie is becoming increasingly aware of his surroundings. It really is amazing seeing him learn everyday. This morning he was looking at his fingers and hands - moving them so they would touch each other. He has been aware of his hands for quite a while now, but I've never seen him play with his fingers and intentionally change the position of his hands. It is almost like a light bulb when off in his head!
Speaking of hands :)

Cutting a Tooth
T or Charlie as we will refer him, cut his first tooth yesterday. People have been telling us that he is teething (mostly Grandma), but I guess I didn't realize that he really was. He wasn't hurting, his cheeks weren't flushed, his bum-bum wasn't bothering him, and he wasn't running a fever. Yes, he was chewing on things and drooling - but his drool wasn't crazy!
So when Grandpa brought Charlie back into our room and said he cut a tooth, I didn't believe him! I was talking with my mom, so I stuck my finger in his mouth and sure enough, I could feel the top part of his first tooth! I was SHOCKED! My little baby cut his first tooth and didn't so much as whine about it. If I really think about it, I could get a little emotional about this new milestone.
February 5th will always be a special day for me. In 2010 I found out that I was finally pregnant, and in 2011, Charlie cut his first tooth. I love my little man - he's so special.
