Farm Fun 2013

I was really wanting to get some more crop pictures this year - ones with canola, so we had to head down before the canola changed colour.  BUT - we had to throw in a ride on Iggy and Berkeley.  I just have to laugh at the picture of Charlie riding - check out his DC shoes, and blue fish socks.  He hasn't worn socks all summer, so I really wasn't thinking when I threw them in.  Grandpa says he needs boots if he is going to be at the farm :)

Charlie hopped right onto Iggy or Berkeley.  He rode by himself and my sister even got him jogging - much to my "be careful" and "not too fast" protests.  I'm not the biggest horse fan....especially when my little children are up high.

As for the canola picture, they weren't as good as I was hoping.  But I captured a few fun moments.  I was shocked that Charlie would eat the peas.  He has become a very picky eater as of late, so needless to say, I snapped away when he actually ate the snap peas.  I also got lucky and took a few pictures of Charlie throwing the pod into the field :)

Brotherly love

These pictures are a continuation of Moe's pictures from a few days ago.  Charlie woke up during Moe's picture time, so I added him in.  The first one is of Charlie JUST waking up.  Didn't take him long to get happy though!

Charlie is entering new territory of having to share his toys.  I can already see trouble on the horizon.  He likes to take Moe's toys away from him and keep them for himself.....so not good!  Then he gets really mad when I take them back and give them to Moe.  YIKES!  Moe has also started to cry in protest of his brother's actions, and I can just see what it is going to be like in a few months from now when Moe really understands what is going on.

Anyway - Charlie will show Moe some love, and Moe almost always shows Charlie love.  Moe watches Charlie like a hawk, usually with a smile on his face.  Kind of like the picture below.

My favorite pic!!!!  I was desperately trying to get them both look at the camera at the same time, but instead got this.  I think it is pretty sweet!

Post Nap Photo-op

Moe continues to be a very content baby!  He is not crawling, not near crawling, so I have started instituting more rolling and tummy time.  As I have said, he is happy to sit and watch or sit and play, so I have started moving toys away from him or putting him on his belly while I play with his older brother.  I'm still not in a hurry for him to get mobile, I just know I need to do my part to encourage it!

His eating is also lagging.  Until a few weeks ago, he was eating very little.....he would not open his mouth!  I have found that he likes to feed himself, so I am slowly giving him chunkier food that he can eat.  I'm an overly cautious mom when it comes to solids so this is fairly new territory considering he only has 5 teeth (but with more on the way!)

Anyway - here are some pics of Moe.  He is super sweet and always gives me cute faces.  AND I never edit his eyes - they photograph great.....plus, I don't have time to be that picky!!!!!!  Here are a few from the day - I had to leave LOTS out!

Blowing Bubbles

Charlie loved blowing bubbles on vacation and became quite proficient at it!  Grandma was thinking at the grocery store and picked up some bubbles.  Unfortunately, the container was missing the wand (guess that will happen when they were only a $1 even though the wand was supposed to be included), so we had to wait to get back into town before getting another container of bubbles.  

Vacation without Daddy :(

 Back at the beginning of July, the three of us, along with my parents and sister, headed down to Idaho for what used to be a yearly summer vacation.  I had been pushing to go down because it brings back lots of memories, we needed some fun, and Daddy was going to be at the hotel all the time, so there wasn't much point of us being at home!

So we all headed down, and with the exception of one day, had a fairly successful, and happy week of sun, swimming, and playing.  We did try to go shopping one day, but that was an epic failure.  Charlie wasn't wanting to sit still, and both Moe and Charlie did not nap in the afternoon.  By dinnertime, they were done, and in an effort to let the rest of my family enjoy their dinner, I took the boys to the car.....never done that one before :).  However, everyone hurried to eat their dinner, and on the drive home, I ate my dinner in peace - and probably enjoyed it more than they did!  Hahahaha!  Next time I think we'll leave the boys at home so I can get some real shopping done!

My sister and I enjoyed playing tennis - a sport I never picked up on until university.  I hadn't played for 5 years, and was rusty, but it is definitely a sport I enjoy.

Charlie was very excited to go shishing - fishing - we went and picked out a fishing rod with him, and put a weight on the end of the string so he thought he was fishing (that way we didn't have to get a license!!!).  Well - the fishing expedition lasted for 5 minutes.  He wanted to imitate fishing, but after a few tries, was tired of it.  I actually think he was scared of the boats coming in, but he didn't mention anything about the boats until later.  So shishing only happened once :).

Here's to one good vacation - hey Grandpa, will you take us next year??!!!! :)  Maybe on a different week so Daddy can come too?

The beloved laundry

One of my favorite pictures of Charlie when he was little was when he was watching the laundry and I took his picture from behind.  So I replicated the same picture with Moe.  

Moe also loves watching the laundry spin back and forth, and now that his is sturdy, it is easy to have him watch the laundry, while Charlie and I load, or fold.....I fold and Charlie pretends to fold.

Moe also enjoys watching the big machines at the hotel, but we aren't back there very often, so he is definitely missing out on something his older brother did quite frequently.

 

EXTRA PICTURE!!!!

More tractor fun

Whenever we go to my parent's house, Charlie is ALWAYS asking for a tractor ride.  This summer, Charlie has taken over all steering (unless he gets distracted!).  Grandpa M and Charlie go up and down the long driveway and round and round in circles.  He also helped Grandpa get rid of all the weeds in the dirt.....it took quite a long time and I'm pretty sure Charlie never complained (except about the 'mud' in his crocs).

And this picture.... What can I say.  Charlie has learned to pick his nose :(  GROSS!!!!  Here I am trying to get a good picture, and Charlie feels something in his nose, Moe is not happy, and Daddy is trying to look happy and ignore the situation!  There was an even funnier picture of Charlie and Moe - bigger nose pick and crankier baby, but Doug also looked cranky and I didn't think it would be fair to edit it!!! :)
