My Birthday......30.......

Yup - that's right, I turned 30 :)  I'm not bothered by it at all, so I had a fun day celebrating with some of my family.  Charlie had left his runners at his Grandparent's house, so once we got there for my birthday dinner, he found them and put them on....And I couldn't resist a couple of pictures!!!!

Mommy and Charlie on my Birthday

Someone loves to clean....

I'm still trying to find a good cleaning routine....We've been in our house for 8 months and I still am trying to figure out what works well without leaving too much to do on the weekend :)  I guess that's the luxury of being a mom that stays at home (and works during naptimes).

Daddy was doing the vacuuming the other day and Charlie was having his snack and 'helping' Dad.  We've just started letting Charlie eat outside of high chair.  I'm much too particular about food mess.....you can see why!!!!  And if I think about it, Charlie is a much better eater in his high chair.  He isn't distracted and he knows that it is time to eat.  When I let him snack out of his chair, he walks around, starts playing with things, and often wants more snacks than he needs.  So we'll see how long I continue this trend....

Whoops - sorry Daddy, I accidently spilled my cheerios!

Here - I'll clean and eat them up!

Better get them eaten before Dad comes back!

YES!  Finally, I get to vacuum!

I am so good - Daddy could hire me as a housekeeper!

One Year of Blogging

A year ago I started this blog as a way to keep in touch with friends we no longer see and to document our lives (b/c it flies by way too fast).  It all started with Charlie's first tooth at barely four months old.  Now he has 14 - the latest one popped up last week.  All we have left are two top pokey teeth and the two year molars.  He is a real trooper.

Now we have a talker and real go-getter on our hands.  We bought him some big grip crayons a while back and just started giving them to him.  Now he points to them and makes noises to get our attention.  Below are his first drawings on camera!!!!  We bought him some crayons for the bathtub, so that's the bathtub you see......best invention ever.  We don't have to worry about him coloring on just the paper!  And it washes off no problem.

We also bought some normal crayons too.  Today I thought he was pointing to my camera and I kept telling him we can't play with it (we never do!), but then he went and grabbed some paper......the crayons were in a closed cupboard above the camera.  I was pretty surprised he knew where they were as we had only gotten them out this morning.  Needless to say I went and got the crayons down for him to doodle with!!!!

Superbowl....So sorry Cowboys :)

Charlie got this cute Cowboys outfit from a certain Great Aunt and Uncle who live in Texas.  It is size 18 months, but I put it on him before Christmas and already fit him....And no, these pictures weren't taken in December!!!!

He is one tough guy to capture smiling and not reaching for the camera.....which is why there are two of the back side of the outfit instead of the front.  He loves touching my camera and playing with the circular controller.  I'm just waiting until he wants to take pictures!  Oh and when we say touchdown, he sticks his arms straight in the air just like the refs.  He's been doing it forever :)

Grocery shopping - Charlie style

We go shopping often....Since we don't live in a city, we sometimes go to the grocery store or to Walmart for an outing.....instead of the mall!!!!  I can't believe I just said that!  Never would have I imagined myself going to Walmart with my child so I could get out of the house :)

Maybe I like going because Charlie is at a stage where he enjoys sitting in the cart.  He rarely complains so we have a good time shopping.  I have noticed that he is starting to point at things and let me know he wants to see them......What is going to happen once he realizes these things are toys and treats that Momma can buy if she wants to????

Well, one day when we came home from shopping and I was unpacking everything, Charlie got his grocery cart and started putting food items in it.....I stopped him from taking baking supplies from my drawer and gave him things that wouldn't open or spill!!!

Here he is having a good time shopping!

Momma - what else are you going to give me?

Ummmm - Mrs. Potato Head looks a little bit out of place!!!!

Coconut!!!

Hmmmmm - do I have everything I need?

Nah - I don't want the coconut!

Snow Day with Daddy

Truth be told, I'm not the best Momma at taking Charlie outside to play when its cold.  I've taken him out in spurts.....A few days in a row, and then staying inside for a few days.  Usually, on the days we don't purposefully go outside, we are running errands, swimming, or visiting with friends.  So its not like I stay at home all day!

Anyway - Daddy was home and Charlie was wanting to go outside, so out the two men went.  Charlie didn't like getting all dressed up, but the minute the door opened, all complaining ceased instantly!  They had a good time, but by the time they were done, Charlie had a couple bumps on his head....Poor guy.  Its almost too bad he is so tough, because we sometimes don't realize it when he hurts himself!

Mom - I'm hot and just want to go outside!

Seriously - can we please go outside!

One smile.....that's it!

Why is our bird house outside in the middle of winter????
