1.5 years!

Well, our big boy Charlie turned a year and a half yesterday.  With it came a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house with chocolate cake for dessert, and the start of a cold.  At least that's what I think it is.  He woke up this morning with a runny nose - and now he doesn't like it when I wipe it :).  He has only had one cold before - at one year.  We'll see if this is really a cold, or something else, like some new teeth!

Lets see - what have we been up to for the past few weeks?  Charlie got his first hair cut, ummmm, trim, a few days ago from Mommy.  I was too nervous to do much, but I did cut his "bangs" and a little spot in the back corner of his head that was way too long!  I will do more soon, just need a distraction or Doug to be around!

Charlie is talking, talking, talking.  He has started to recognize McDonald's and yells out excitedly, FRIES or SIES - when he sees those wonderful Golden Arches.  It is so cute - I have to admit.  He can see the building from our hotel - a good three blocks away, and when we are parked somewhere else, if he spots the arches, he says SIES.  It is pretty adorable.

He is now saying Grandpa and Grandma, Pookie, Jon, sometimes Crystal.  He can say his cousins names and a few of our friends.  He know when there is a truck outside and says "Noise".  There isn't too much he doesn't say - even rhubarb, W, enormous, Berkeley.  He spots out the letter T and was even looking at a cross on Sunday and said T :).  He can recognize the letter M, but also thinks W is an M.  Which is why he learned to say W.

That's all for an update - some pictures will be coming soon!!!!

Big Boy Chair

Last Christmas when Charlie was 3 months, we sat him on this chair and took some pictures.  Well, I couldn't resist taking more now that Charlie can actually sit on it properly!!!!

More Outside Fun

Before I forget, we also had a milestone while visiting Grandma and Grandpa.  Charlie's two top eye teeth came through.  A runny nose, rosy cheeks, and a little bit of a sore bum made me think that they better finally be coming through.  Sure enough, out they came!!!!!  Way to go Charlie - four more, and you're all done!

So - here are Dad and Charlie playing outside.  There is a cliff at the end of Grandpa and Grandma's backyard, so Charlie won't be playing by himself out back!!!!

Last Minute Travels

Grandma S recently underwent some surgery and since it was her birthday, Doug decided we should surprise her and spend a few days visiting with Grandpa and Grandma.  So we packed up and left the house 1.5 hours after we decided to go.  We drove the 7.5 hours to the Okanagan - roads were so-so, but not too bad.  Charlie did pretty well!  We had a good 5 days visiting, reading, playing outside, but not wanting to fall asleep in the play pen.  He slept great once he was asleep, but didn't like getting put inside his black hole.

Here are some pics of Daddy and Charlie going outside.

Momma - why are you taking my picture?

Do I have to smile?

Ok - if I have to!

Guess who can also open doors?

Hi Puppy!

That's your eye!

Rocks - my favorite!

Who is making noise????

Garbage Day

This is a lot bigger than Mommy and Daddy's!

I'm on a walk.

Are you coming?

Oh - Daddy - the car is so clean!

Come on - lets go!!!!

When Mom and Dad have a Date Day.....

Auntie Pookie and Treyden have a Baking Day!!!

After a Valentine's Day spent at McDonald's, Mommy wanted a real date night. So on Saturday, Auntie Pookie came out to visit and play and Daddy and Mommy headed to Calgary for dinner and some shopping. After two hours of playing and a few too many hours to go until bedtime, Auntie Pookie decided we needed an activity to pass some time. So we decided to bake!

Let our adventure begin....

Step 1. Test that Auntie Pookie knows how to use Mommy's camera. After I saw the camera strap hanging from the kitchen counter, Auntie Pookie quickly remembered she needed to keep the camera AND camera strap out of reach.

Step 2. Find a recipe in Mommy's recipe book.

Hmmm. Which one looks good? Corn salad? Nope. Sweet and sour spareribs? Huh?

Hey, what's this one? Chocolate cupcakes?

YAY! Auntie, let's make Mommy's favorite chocolate cupcakes to surprise her!

Step 3. Put cupcake liners in the muffin tin.

Hey, these are kind of funny looking...

Step 4. Stir the dry ingredients together. I was very careful and only got a little bit of flour on Mommy's clean flour. Auntie helped me clean it up.

Step 5. Get ready to mix! I'm not too sure about this though....

Hey, this is kind of fun!!!

Step 6. Put the cupcakes in the oven to bake. Auntie did this job, even though I wanted to help.

Hey, are they done yet?

Cupcakes take a long time to bake. I need a snack...

And a rest....

Auntie, baking cupcakes is HARD WORK!

Step 7. Ice the cupcakes. Thanks for letting me help and don't worry Mom, Auntie didn't let me eat too much icing off the spoon!

Step 8. Eat the cupcakes. Just to be sure mommy will like them.

Yummy!!! Auntie, we make gooooood cupcakes. Thanks for coming to bake.
